using Windows Sockets, MS SQL Server database access, Visual C++, and Trans Union/Experian Gateway API’s (Midwest
Card Services, Nov., 2000 – current).
- Installed an FDR credit card/banking interface utilizing Visual Basic, MS SQL Server, ADO, and
ConnectDirect (US Capital Holdings, June-Sept., 2000)
- SEC Decimalization Conversion software development (COBOL II) (Charles Schwab & Co., Sept.,
1999 – June, 2000).
- www.petesbrassrail.com: Maintenance, graphics and page design, featuring Sybase ASA database, Active X controls, ASP pages (Patotech,
Sept., 1998 – current).

supporting customer data-entry, scheduling, claims processing, billing/invoicing, and revenue reporting using Visual
C++, Delphi, Sybase ASA DB (Patotech, 1994- current).
- Member of Levi Strauss’ Year 2000 Core Team; remediated, tested, trained, directed production-Y2K-readiness
certification scans on both mainframe and client-server platforms (Levi Strauss and Co., Nov., 1997-Sept., 1999).
- Tested and installed enhancements to an Electronic Bonding Long Distance Carrier Ordering
and Notification System for SBC that decreased ordering-to-completion turnaround time from an average 5
days to 45 minutes accessing UNIX/Oracle, MQ’s, and MVS/DB2 systems (Southwestern Bell Communications, 1997).
- Completed the testing and installation of a Resale Ordering System for Pacific
Bell that will open up local calling areas to access carrier competition. The system uses MQSeries connectivity
to pass transactions between UNIX/Oracle and MVS/DB2 systems (Astounding People Teamwork Award Winner, Southwestern
Bell Communications, 1996-1997).
- Completed the modeling, development, conversion to, and installation of a Cobol II, DB2-based
insurance membership system in support of batch and on-line orders from a variety of vendors and
business support units throughout Northern California and Nevada (CSAA, 1994-1996)
- Completed the installation of a Powerbuilder membership inquiry / account pilot history
tool using an MDI Gateway to DB2 (CSAA, 1996)
- Designed and installed a payroll-commission mainframe/PC interface, utilizing
DB2, DOS, DB2/2, Microfocus Cobol II, and OS/2, for a telecommunications industry vendor (Centex, 1993-4).
- Constructed an auction nite application for charitable organizations in Marin
County, utilizing Paradox under DOS, supporting auction bidder and item data entry, sales, invoicing, and revenue
reporting (1992-1993).
- Co-designed, modeled, and implemented the conversion of a nightly, six hour, batch DB2 long-distance
carrier order notification system into a one-half hour batch, one-half hour on-line DB2, Cobol II
system, adding new functionality, and cutting average turnaround time from 4 days to 1. The system, still in use,
is accessed by over 400 carriers 30,000 times daily throughout the United States to subscribe California and Nevada
telephone customers, and cut six weeks early (Pacific Telesis, 1992).
- Modeled, designed, and built an Enhanced Service Provider Gateway System, providing a DB2/CICS/Cobol
II Voice Mail order tracking and inquiry system interface to host Accounting and Order mainframe
entry systems (Pacific Bell, 1991,3)
- Designed and installed a telephone industry labor billing system: a DB2, CICS,
Cobol II mainframe order entry, tracking, correction, and reporting system used by twenty-five centers throughout
California and Nevada (Pacific Telesis, 1992).
- Engineered a long distance carrier service ordering system, a DB2/CICS/Cobol II
system that converted customer orders into host format, communicated via LU6.2 protocol to host Accounting and
Order systems, and provided on-line correction, creation, and tracking capabilities (PacBell Partners in Success,
Winner's Circle, and Encore Award Winner, AT&T Quest for Quality Award Winner, 1989)
- Co-converted a carrier notification system from VSAM to DB2/Cobol II (PacBell
CESAR Award Winner, 1989)
- Led the design and development of a major utility bill format change, a revision
involving the presentation and pricing of over fifty uniquely formatted telecommunications products reaching over
twelve million customers in California and Nevada in Cobol (1985, Pacific Telesis).
